The Biggest Mistake Everyone Makes When Arranging Bouquets

How to Care for Your Hand-Tied Bouquet (Without Ruining It!)

So, your gorgeous bouquet has just arrived, whether you've collected it from our shop in Devizes or it's been delivered to your door. It's sitting there in its aqua pack, looking absolutely beautiful, and you're ready to get it into a vase.

But wait. Before you reach for the scissors, there's something really important you need to know.

Please Don't Cut the Tie!

This is the number one mistake we see customers make, and it breaks our florist hearts every single time.

That tie holding your bouquet together? It's not just packaging. It's not there to be removed. It's part of the design.

When we create a hand-tied bouquet, we spend time carefully positioning each stem, balancing the colours, textures, and heights to create something that looks beautiful from every angle. The tie holds that design in place. Cut it, and the whole arrangement falls apart, literally.

We promise, your bouquet is meant to stay tied. Trust us on this one.

Caring for Your Hand-Tied Aqua Pack Bouquet

Here's exactly how to care for your bouquet when it arrives:

For the First 48 Hours:

Your bouquet can be left in its aqua pack for up to 48 hours. Just leave it as it is, no fuss, no stress. The water reservoir will keep your flowers happy.

After 48 Hours:

After this time, the water will need to be changed. Here's what to do:

  1. Snip the base of the water bag over the sink to release the water
  2. Remove the lower packaging, the upper gift wrap can be left on if you'd like, but do not untie your flowers
  3. Fill a vase with tepid water and add flower food following the instructions on the packet
  4. Cut about 5cm from the end of the stems at an angle, this helps them drink more efficiently
  5. Stand the hand-tied design in the vase, keeping the tie intact

That's it. Simple, right?

Keeping Your Flowers Fresh for Longer

Here are a few extra tips to help your bouquet last as long as possible:

  • Keep flowers in a cool, draught-free area, out of direct sunlight
  • The cooler the room, the longer your flowers will last
  • Remove any faded blooms or foliage as soon as possible
  • Change the water in the vase twice a week to keep it fresh

Why Hand-Tied Matters

Hand-tied bouquets aren't just pretty, they're designed to be functional, long-lasting, and easy to care for. Every stem is placed with intention, and the spiral technique we use ensures the bouquet opens up beautifully as the flowers bloom.

When you leave the tie intact, you're preserving the artistry and structure of the arrangement. It also makes it so much easier for you, no rearranging needed, just pop it straight into a vase and enjoy.
